Spain is a diverse country sharing the Iberian Peninsula.

Its territory also includes two archipelagoes: the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa, and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla make Spain the only European country to have a physical border with an African country (Morocco).[h] Several small islands in the Alboran Sea are also part of Spanish territory. The country's mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay.

The best option to arrive in Spain by train is the high-speed track. It takes 6 hours to travel from Paris to Barcelona. Cross-border connections are also frequent on the other end of the border, between San Sebastian and Bayonne. A more scenic option is from Toulouse to Barcelona, on the border, connecting with a regional Spanish train to Barcelona.

The busiest airports are Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga, followed by Seville, Valencia, Bilbao, Alicante, Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, Gran Canaria and the 2 airports in Tenerife.
