Customized Mediterranean Tours - Built Around You, From the First Conversation
Every Anemos itinerary is customized. That's not a marketing line; it's the only way we work. We don't sell packages, we don't run fixed departures, and we don't take on a trip without first sitting down with the people taking it.
What that means in practice: the Greece trip we build for a retired couple interested in Byzantine history looks nothing like the Greece trip we build for a family with three teenagers or the one we build for two friends who want to eat their way through Athens and the islands. The destination is the same. The trip is entirely different.
This page explains how the customization process actually works, what we need from you, what we build from it, and what the result looks like.
How We Build a Customized Itinerary
Step 1 - The Conversation
Every trip begins with a conversation, not a form, not a preference checklist, not an automated quote. A real conversation about who is traveling, what they care about, what they've done before, what went wrong last time, and what they'd consider the trip incomplete without.
This conversation is always free. It typically runs 20–30 minutes. By the end of it, we have enough to start building.
Step 2 - The Draft Itinerary
Within five to seven business days of our initial conversation, we deliver a draft itinerary, a day-by-day proposal covering destinations, accommodation options, guide arrangements, and a suggested pace. This is a starting point, not a final document. Everything is adjustable.
Step 3 - Refinement
Most itineraries go through one to three rounds of adjustment, adding a destination, changing a hotel, extending a stay, removing something that doesn't fit. We refine until the itinerary is exactly what you want. Nothing is confirmed or paid for until you're satisfied.
Step 4 - Confirmation & Booking
Once the itinerary is agreed, we confirm all elements, hotels, guides, transfers, flights, activities, and collect a deposit. From that point, we handle all logistics and keep you informed throughout the process. You receive a final document covering every element of your trip, with contact numbers and contingency information for every destination.
Step 5 - The Trip
You travel. We're reachable throughout, for flight disruptions, itinerary adjustments, hotel issues, or anything else that needs solving in real time. This is the part of private travel planning that most people underestimate until something goes wrong.
What We Can Build For You
Thirty years of Mediterranean planning means we've built itineraries for almost every kind of traveler — and almost every kind of trip. The range below gives a sense of what's possible. None of it is fixed. All of it starts with a conversation.
-
Any destination - Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, France, Malta, Cyprus, or two or three of them combined into a single private journey
-
Any duration - a focused week in one country or a three-week journey across the entire Mediterranean basin
-
Any date - every Anemos itinerary departs when you want to go, built around your schedule, not ours
-
Any interest - ancient history and archaeology, food and wine, sailing and yacht charter, architecture, hiking, culinary immersion, or simply the best possible version of a Mediterranean holiday
When the itinerary feels right, after as many conversations and revisions as it takes, we confirm everything and handle the rest. You travel. We manage the details.
What We Customize
Destinations
We cover Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, France, Malta, and Cyprus, as standalone destinations and in combination. If your ideal trip crosses two or three countries, we build the routing, manage the transitions, and handle all logistics between destinations.
Accommodation
We hand-select every property on your itinerary, not from a preferred supplier list, but from thirty years of firsthand knowledge of what each destination actually offers. The hotel with the genuine caldera view rather than the one that claims it. The Amalfi Coast property where every room faces the sea rather than the car park. The Cappadocia cave hotel that's genuinely in the valley rather than on its edge.
We work across the full range: boutique hotels, private villas, luxury resorts, traditional riads, Nile cruise vessels, gulet charters, and choose the right type and property for each specific client.
Guides
We work with licensed local guides who have spent careers in their destinations, not generalists reading from a script. An archaeologist at the Acropolis. A culinary expert in the Puglia countryside. A historian specializing in Ottoman architecture in Istanbul. The right guide transforms what you see into what you understand.
Pace
Some travelers want every day full. Others need breathing room, afternoons without a plan, mornings with nothing scheduled. We build the pace into the itinerary from the start, not as an afterthought. A trip that moves too fast through too many places is one of the most common sources of post-travel disappointment, and one of the most preventable.
Special Interests
Food and wine, archaeology, architecture, photography, hiking, sailing, family history research, religious pilgrimage — whatever sits at the center of your travel interest, we build the itinerary around it rather than adding it as an optional extra. Our most memorable trips are built around a specific passion rather than a generic destination list.
Types of Customized Travel We Plan
Couples & Honeymoons
Private itineraries for two, honeymoons, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, or simply the trip you've been planning for years. We give particular attention to the details that make a trip romantic rather than merely scenic: the room with the right view, the restaurant table at the right spot, the private moment built into the schedule.
Families
Multi-generational family trips are among the most complex itineraries we build, and some of the most rewarding. Coordinating destinations and activities that genuinely engage everyone from age 8 to age 78 requires experience and honesty about what works and what doesn't. We've been doing it long enough to know both.
Small Groups
Friends traveling together, college reunions, special interest groups, private travel for groups of four to twenty. No strangers in your itinerary, no compromises on pace or destination, no shared coaches with people you didn't come with.
Multi-Generational Families
Three generations traveling together requires a specific kind of planning, accessible accommodation, itinerary flexibility for different energy levels and interests, vehicles large enough for everyone, and the judgment to know when the group needs to split for the afternoon and reconvene for dinner.
Corporate & Incentive Travel
Private Mediterranean experiences for executive groups and corporate incentive programs, unique venues, exclusive access, seamless logistics, and one point of contact from initial brief to post-trip debrief.

What Makes a Customized Trip Different
Most travelers who have never used a private travel specialist assume that booking independently gives them more control. In practice, the opposite is true — independent bookings are constrained by what platforms list, what algorithms surface, and what's available to a stranger calling from overseas.
A private travel specialist with thirty years of Mediterranean relationships operates differently. The hotel room that isn't listed online because the owner prefers direct relationships. The guide who gives two hours to a group of four at Delphi because we've worked together for fifteen years. The restaurant table at the right spot in Santorini because a call was made six weeks ago by someone the owner knows.
Control comes from knowledge and relationships, not from a booking platform. That's what customized private travel actually means.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a customized Mediterranean trip cost?
It varies significantly based on destination, duration, time of year, accommodation category, and number of travelers. We discuss budget openly in the first conversation and build within it. Contact us for a no-obligation discussion; we'll give you a realistic picture of what your trip is likely to cost before any commitments are made.
How far in advance do I need to plan?
For peak season travel to popular destinations, twelve months ahead gives us the best options. Six to nine months is sufficient for shoulder season. Off-season itineraries can sometimes be built with shorter lead time. The first conversation costs nothing; reach out whenever you're ready to start thinking about it.
Can I change things after the planning process starts?
Yes, until elements are confirmed and deposits paid, everything is adjustable. We build in revision rounds specifically for this reason. Once bookings are confirmed, changes may involve supplier fees, which we always communicate in advance.
Do you handle flights?
Yes. We arrange international and domestic flights as part of a complete package, or plan the land content around flights you've already booked. Either approach works.
What if something goes wrong during the trip?
We are reachable throughout your journey. We have direct relationships with hotels, transport companies, and local operators in every destination we cover, which means problems get solved faster than if you were navigating them alone from the other side of the world.

What to Tell Us
The more context you share, the more useful our first conversation will be. If you know them, tell us:
Who is traveling and roughly how many. When you're thinking of going. Which destinations are on your list, or if you're not sure yet, what draws you to the Mediterranean. What kind of trip you're imagining, the pace, the focus, the experiences that matter most. And your approximate budget, so we build something realistic from the start.
