Transfer to Wadi Rum Vast, echoing and God - like", these are the words T. E. Lawrence used in describing Wadi Rum, the largest and most magnificent of Jordan's desert landscapes. In these ancient valleys, the elements of nature have modeled and carved out this panorama and have left us strips of scorched earth, sides of carved mountains and stretches of sand which have the ability to change into shades of yellow, red find orange. The hours before sunset and those of early morning are the best moments to appreciate the landscape; however, there are many places to visit in this vast terrain, the most important of which are Lawrence of Arabia's springs, Jebel Khazali and the mountain of the seven pillars of wisdom. The most tantalizing experience, however, remains a night's stay besides the fire and under the most magnificent starry desert sky then visit Little Petra we will drive to visit Al Beidha or Little Petra is the next most important site for the casual visitor in Wadi Musa. This site is only a few kilometers (around a 10-minute drive) north of Petra; Little Petra is literally hidden away in the center of a mountain with a classical temple standing guard outside the mini-Siq. Little Petra appears to have been an important suburb of the city of Petra and is at the point where several ancient caravan routes met, then transfer to Petra hotel for overnight.
TUESDAY: Petra – Amman (B)
Full buffet breakfast at the hotel in the main dining room in Petra Hotel,
Jordan abounds in archaeological riches, from Neolithic ruins to the desert castles of Umayyad Princes. Chief among these national treasures is the soul stirring, rose - red city of Petra, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Petra is the legacy of the Nabateans, an industrious Arab people who settled in south Jordan more than 2000 years ago. Much of Petra's appeal comes from its spectacular setting deep inside a narrow desert gorge. From the main entrance, the visitor travels on foot through the awesome "SIQ", an immense crack in the sandstone that winds for one kilometer between overhanging cliffs. Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury, appears dramatically at the end of the Siq and various walks and climbs reveal literally hundreds of buildings, facades, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples and a 3000 seat theater from the 1st Century AD, then transfer Amman hotel for overnight.
WEDNESDAY: Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Dead Sea Beach – Amman (B)
Full buffet breakfast at the hotel in the main dining room in Amman Hotel,
Start the day with visiting MADABA / MOUNT NEBO The trip south of Amman along the 5,000 years old King’s Highway is one of the most memorable journeys in the Holy Land, passing through a string of ancient sites. The first city along the way from the north is Madaba, “the City of Mosaics" which has been intermittently inhabited for nearly 3,500 years. The chief attraction in this city is a wonderfully vivid, six-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites; there are also literally hundreds of other mosaics scattered throughout Madaba's churches and homes. Ten minutes to the west is Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, and the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. From a platform in front of the church one can enjoy a breathtaking view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, then visit Dead Sea Enjoy the new experience swimming at the Dead Sea it’s a destination for visitors from around the world due to its unique water qualities, climate and historical and spiritual legacy. This "Sea of Salt" sits amidst the sensational mountains of the Biblical Kingdoms of Moab, Ammon and Edom to the east, and the rolling hills of Jerusalem to the west. Enjoy a buoyant swim while reading a newspaper or just watch the thick, gleaming snow like rocks that gives the area a strange surreal sense as if it were in another world. One should always remember that this is the lowest point on Earth and a place that is believed to be the site of five biblical cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zebouin and Zoar, then transfer to Amman hotel for overnight.
THURSDAY: Amman– Jerash Tour – Ajloun Castle Tour – Amman (B)
Full buffet breakfast at the hotel in the main dining room in Amman Hotel,Start the day to Jerash Second only to Petra in tourist appeal, the ancient city of Jarash is remarkable for its long chain of human occupation. Here at a well-watered site in the hills of Gilead, remains from Neolithic times have been found, as well as Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad and others. Jarash’s golden age arrived with Roman rule. Today it is acknowledged as one of the best-preserved province cities of the Roman Empire. Jarash was a member of the Decapolis, a dynamic commercial league of ten Greco-Roman cities. When Emperor Hadrian visited Jarash in 129 AD, it was already thriving. To honor its guest, the city raised a Triumphal Arch, just one part of a massive building program. Today you can walk beneath the imposing South Gate and then make your way up the “Street of Columns” – the Roman Cargo – running 600 meters north from the Oval Plaza. As you step over the tracks of chariot wheels, still visible in the paving stones, imagine prosperous citizens window-shopping beneath a covered sidewalk. Jarash was an open city of freestanding structures richly embellished with marble and granite. Its engineering was so advanced that large parts of the city still survive today. Much more has been painstakingly restored by archaeological teams from around the world. Transfer to visit Ajloun castle and then transfer back to Amman hotel for overnight.
