Itinerary ( B = breakfast, D = dinner )

 
DAY 1: Marrakech airport – Hotel (D)*

Meet and greet at the Marrakech airport, then check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours, but feel free to ask your guide for recommended visits. Overnight in Marrakech.

 

DAY 2: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Tinghir B,D

After breakfast, transfer to Ouarzazate along the magnificent Tizi In Tichka and pass through the High Atlas Mountains. Make a brief stop in the village of Skoura before taking the route of 1001 Kasbahs to Kelaat M’Gouna. This village is famous for its rose cultivation, so expect to find many fine, rose-infused products there. Make another stop in the village of Dades before arriving at Tinghir for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 3: Tinghir – Merzouga B,D

Tinghir is a gorgeous, 40km oasis, which boasts one of the largest palm groves in the country. Take a walk through this valley village, stopping in to visit the earthen houses and help the locals to feed the animals. Then explore the Todra Gorge, a 300m wall, carved deep into the High Atlas Mountains. Transfer to Merzouga making stops at Tinjdad, Erfoud, and Rissani. Dinner and overnight in an auberge by the dunes in Merzouga. NB: you can stay in a desert camp with round-trip 4x4 transfers from Erfoud.

 

DAY 4: Merzouga – Alnif – Tazarine – Zagora B,D

Enjoy an optional sunrise camel ride along the golden sand dunes in Merzouga. Return to the auberge for a shower and breakfast before transferring to Zagora via the Amazigh villages of Alnif and Tazarine. Zagora is famous for its largest palm valley in Morocco. Stop by Tamegroute to visit the village’s famous library, which houses ancient Koranic scripts dating back to the 12th century. Dinner and overnight in Zagora.

 

DAY 5: Zagora – Agdez – Ouarzazate B,D

After breakfast, enjoy the tour of Zagora including some of the oldest villages in Morocco. Visit the pottery section of Tamgroute then transfer to Ouarzazate along the Draa valley. Optional lunch stop at Agdez then continue the trip to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech B(D) *

After breakfast, begin a city tour of Ouarzazate, including the Taourirt and Tifoultout Kasbahs, which are considered to be among the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco. Next, visit the film studios where some of the most famous desert landscapes were and are still being shot. Continue on to the spectacular fortress of Ait Ben Haddou, the iconic landscape immortalized in such films as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, and Alexander. Then, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tiz In Tichka pass to Marrakech overnight.

 

DAY 7: Marrakech (city tour) B(D) *

Enjoy the guided tour of Marrakech, beginning with the world-famous Jemaa el Fna Square, which houses an array of food, snake charmers, local musicians, and fortune-tellers. Next, visit the Koutoubia Minaret, Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs, before going to the medina to spend free time in the souks. Overnight in the Marrakech.

 

DAY 8: Marrakech airport B

After breakfast, we will assist you to the Marrakech airport for your return flight.
